This class was great for my 11, now 12 year old. Great communication from the teacher. He loved being able to talk about his favourite topics with people who share the same interests. Only stopped to try another class, overall definitely recommend for kids who love Pokemon!

In my opinion this class is amazing! I attended it for 3 years but now I’m quitting because I’ve grown out of Pokemon. But if anybody likes Pokemon this is the perfect class to take. This class is very good because you can meet other kids and become friends with them.

My daughter’s favourite class. We have been attending for a few years now, and the class has really helped my daughter to grow in self expression, listening and social skills. She has also benefited from the mutual sharing of interests, as well as being able to develop meaningful relationships with others including her teacher Donna. 

Donna is excellent at creating an inclusive environment where, with gentle and kind guidance, children can take the lead to be and express themselves.

Donna is great at helping kids learn their strengths and how to build upon them.  This class is great for kids that understand they can improve in certain areas but may not know how.  She gives practical scenarios and tools for setting oneself up for success. The class was structured with a clear outline of what the student would learn about.  No homework per se but the more you utilize the skills learned the more you will benefit.

My son’s only complaint was the time (too early for PST) but the time allowed him to participate before school. His favourite thing about the class were the games to help learn the executive functions. He learned a lot in the class and enjoyed the content. I thought it was an excellent introduction to the executive functions. The teacher was very engaged with each student on a 1:1 level. I wanted my son to begin learning the language and concepts of executive functions to better understand how his own brain works, where he’s strong, and where he can improve his skills. This was a great class for that.

One-on-one physics tutoring with Mahith is among the happiest hours in my daughter’s week. She is a 13 year old serious physics geek who was looking for someone to help her dig deep into the more complex questions of time and space and she has found her match. After the sessions she is always excited and tries to teach me things that are way beyond my reach. Each session caters specifically to her questions and goes at her own speed. Indeed, she loves this so much that I splurged and she is now doing two sessions a week.

The group has been helpful during the pandemic in connecting my son with peers in meaningful interaction. Donna facilitates check-in time well so that everyone gets time to share while keeping the conversation moving. My son enjoys the  conversation/reflection prompts and has been able to continue conversations later with a couple of peers after getting parental permission on both sides. Overall, it’s been a great experience for my son.

Minecraft Fun

This is a great class to encourage children to think creatively and solve problems. It’s important for children not to have the expectation that Minecraft will be used in the lessons. Minecraft worlds are used as a platform or an example for the child to think about environmental challenges and how these might be overcome. My 8yo son really enjoyed this class and spent a lot of time between the sessions thinking about the creation he wanted to make in Minecraft, chatting about his creation and why he was planning to build various components, and then using Minecraft on his own to make the construction. Donna creates an excellent space within the session for the children to talk about their thought process, and provides worksheets as well to guide them in between the sessions.

My 8yo son has been attending Donna’s classes for several months and he loves them. This Pokemon group is a real little global social group where the kids can talk about Pokemon, play Pokemon games with each other and generally enjoy the company of others. Donna does a fantastic job of steering the group towards constructive discussion and fostering a sense of community. Highly recommended.

My son loved taking a class that uses Minecraft, and I loved all of the critical thinking and problem solving this class offered.  The handouts are helpful as well.  This is a class for any child that wants to use Minecraft as an educational tool!  Mrs. Donna is my son’s absolute favourite online teacher.

This is a fantastic group. Each week my son wants to come and tell me all about what they discussed. Today, for example, they worked on ways to solve some current global issues as teams. I love that this class is teaching them important social skills, and broadening their horizons! This class is even better than I had hoped.

I think it has some great topics, and the teacher likely did really well. My son was not very excited to attend, for some reason, although I made sure he was in all the classes. He does get bored easily if the material or discussion takes some time. It may be good for boys who don’t mind a slower-paced class.

This was a really valuable group and my son is actively using the methods that were used as an example and taught to the boys. He liked working with the other boys in break out groups. Every child in the  breakout groups was engaged in the activities and all helped putting in work for the presentations. It was one of the only times I’ve seen this honestly happen. (We all know how group assignments usually go.) I would definitely recommend this class, the skills and strategies taught are beneficial and will be utilized for a life time. In a world where so much pressure is put upon parents to ensure they are producing good and decent human beings regardless of anonymity, every little bit counts. Thank you.

I thought Donna had a very nice demeanor with the kids. Donna also has a very thoughtful approach to help the children explore some important topics such as leadership skills, compromise, cooperation and accepting others views/opinions.  As well as recognizing one’s feelings i.e.: stress, frustration, or insecurities and developing ways to manage and work with those feelings.  Donna also did a nice job managing the pace for the hour long classes.  I only wish there were more than 4 classes.  It went by quickly.
